Art Mediums

My Creative Art Studio
My Studio

This is my creative space where most of it happens. I must admit I create wherever the mood strikes me or the Muse calls. Sometimes, I'll get an image from a dream, and I must sketch it out in the notebook by my bed before it fades away. With creativity, one must be ready to receive whatever you perceive. This acceptance of creativity comes in handy also for my writing. I get an idea for a book, story, or simply part of a dialogue and I must either write it down or hit record on my phone and record it. That way the thought or idea is as fresh as it can be. If you trust your memory to remember the exact thought or vision hours later, it will never be the same. So, don't wait for later to record your creative thoughts or images.  Just a thought!
By the way, the kitty in the studio is my beautiful little Cali.

Acrylic Pet Portraits

Acrylic Dog Pet Portrait
Jackson Acrylic Portrait

I love to paint Animals with Acrylics as I find it such a wonderful medium for layering color and capturing the animals' fur and movement. The colors can be bright and electric as when painting a beautiful parrot or muted and mysterious for our feline friends.

Charcoal/Graphite and Pencil Pet Portraits

I specialize in realistic fine art charcoal portraits. All art portraits are hand drawn using charcoal/graphite and/or pencil on high quality acid free paper.
I strive for a realistic interpretation of the pet; however, my goal is not only to imitate the reference material but to obtain a truthful and accurate depiction of the subject. A strong likeness happens naturally during the drawing process. My main intent is to capture and project in the portrait the personality, character, and energy of the animal.

Watercolor Sea life and Seascapes

A new addition to my creative tool kit is Watercolors. Until recently, I was not a fan. When I tried it in the past, I ended up with a soupy mess. Too much water and not enough patience, which was my issue. I've given it another try...and guess what? I love this media. I've discovered new things about watercolors and at the same time, discovered things about myself. I'm not as impatient as I used to be, this is a good thing.

Oil Paintings

Oils are the old-time classics. The artistry of oil painting is one of quality and patience.  The results are stunning, but it does take longer to paint, and longer to dry. I do use environmentally friendly water-soluble and washable oil paints to stay true to my intention to be conscious of our environment.

People Portraits-Graphite Pencils

Picture
 Lisette a Classical Beauty

This portrait is a representation of a rendering done with charcoal pencils as well as graphite. I love capturing the essence of the person, and the detail in the accessories. This brings the drawing to life.
