My story behind the gathering of Rocks, and Stones
Let’s talk about the Stones, Rocks, or what I call The Earth’s Natural Canvases. I use a variety of stones, some are smooth river rocks, and others I find on the beautiful beaches of Southern California expertly sculptured by the ceaseless waves. Sometimes, while venturing into the riverbeds, which, unfortunately, are mostly dry, but a treasure troll for finding wonderful stones. Others, which beg the question, did I find them, or did they find me? I find many of the rugged, weathered rocks I paint, I find when walking my dog. As I look down, one will capture my attention. As I gaze upon it, I’ll see a particular shape and my imagination creates a vision. I see how the texture, shape, dents, and what I call perfect imperfections guide me to create a unique one-of-a-kind creation. Of course, I keep mindful of not taking rocks from selected places such as National Parks and protected areas. Respecting nature and honoring the beauty surrounding us is part of my creative journey.
